Robert Bundsag, co-founder of URemovals

Robert Bundsag is the co-founder of URemovals, a UK man and van comparison and booking platform. He built the platform himself and runs its technical side today.

Role Co-founder, URemovals Ltd (company number 14366711)
Born 1976, Szeged, Hungary
Moving trade Man and van service since 2018, as the Grabbit Squad partnership
URemovals Building the platform since 2020, public since 2022
Before that Ten years as a logistics manager in import and export

From kitchen porter to platform founder

Robert trained as a building electrician in Hungary, then studied IT and business management. He spent ten years as a logistics manager at a large Hungarian import-export company.

In 2012 he moved to the UK, where his nephew Sandor already lived, and started at the bottom: kitchen porter, then assistant kitchen manager, then Tesco delivery driver alongside Sandor. In 2018 the two of them set up a man and van service as a partnership, under a name they came up with themselves: Grabbit Squad. They ran man and van jobs during the day and kept driving Tesco deliveries in the evenings and at weekends.

Grabbit Squad worked out of Southampton, and one job there went on television. When Mia from MTV's Teen Mom UK moved to the area, MTV asked Robert and Sandor to handle the move, and the cameras followed it. The move appears in Teen Mom UK, series 8, episode 4.

The work was not only house moves. Grabbit Squad also took on commercial jobs, including moving materials for Starbucks.

The partnership kept hitting the same problem from both ends. Customers could not find a driver they trusted at a price that made sense, and good local drivers could not find steady work without comparison sites that took a cut and gave little back. Robert started building a better system himself in 2020. In 2022 Grabbit Squad became URemovals and opened to the public.

"We built this platform because moving a sofa shouldn't be harder than ordering a pizza."

What Robert does at URemovals

Robert built the entire URemovals platform on his own, every part of it, from what customers see on screen to the server it runs on. It took years of work, with no investors, no outside funding, no development agency and no outside team. Robert still runs every technical part of the platform today, and checks the city price pages, which use figures from completed bookings rather than a rate card.

What years in the van taught him

Most of URemovals started as conversations in the van. Between jobs, Robert and Sandor kept going over what could work better, for the customer and for the driver, and those conversations shaped how the platform works. Today Sandor runs the driver side of URemovals and looks after the relationships with the man and van drivers on the platform, while Robert builds and runs the platform itself.

Grabbit Squad found most of its work through the big comparison sites, and that gave Robert the driver's view of how the trade works. Every job came through a middleman that took a cut and gave little back.

"Having our own house removal company and using comparison sites to get jobs each day made us realise that most of the existing sites are not as cost-effective and straightforward as they try to seem."

So URemovals works the other way round. Each driver sets their own rates for time, mileage, stairs and extra stops, and the customer sees the full price before paying anything. Nobody bids for the job.

The van also showed him how much of a moving bill is wasted miles. A driver who crosses the county to reach a job charges for that drive, and burns fuel doing it. URemovals puts the closest suitable drivers first for that reason.

And the small things add up. Open supermarket banana boxes do not stack, so a van loaded floor to ceiling loses space, and on some Grabbit Squad jobs mixed and open boxes added one to two hours to a load that would have taken 40 minutes. On an hourly job, the customer pays for that time.

Most complaints start before moving day

Running Grabbit Squad and then the platform taught Robert that most complaints have nothing to do with how the move went. They come from a gap between what the customer expected and what they booked: an extra hour on the clock, stairs nobody mentioned, a second pickup added on the day.

That is why every URemovals booking shows the driver's rates for time, mileage, stairs and extra stops before the customer pays anything, and why Robert keeps pointing customers to the terms and conditions. Five minutes reading them before booking answers almost every question that would otherwise become a complaint after the move.

Writing

We analysed a year of removal bookings and discovered Britain is powered by mattresses, IKEA regret, and one mysterious tiger (LinkedIn, January 2026). Robert went through a year of URemovals job descriptions city by city, from a van booked to carry 100 pizzas across Hoxton to a Birmingham inventory that listed one large tiger and one medium tiger.
